Ghada Amer (b. 1963, Cairo, Egypt) moved from Cairo to Paris at age 11. She studied painting at the Villa Arson EPIAR in Nice (BA, 1986; MFA, 1989). She relocated to the United States in 1995. She is known as a Feminist Artist and is known for her multimedia abstract canvases that combine painting with needlework.
